Getting Ready: Before starting this lesson staff should first complete lesson 1 "Register and log in".
Action: Log in as admin.
Action: Select the Help item from the top menu to call up the general help section.
Result 10a: Help sub-sections appear in the lower right part of the window, and a menu with one item for each sub-section appears at the left. Check the menu to learn what kinds of help are avilable here. You will probably need to scroll the menu to see all the items.
Action: Find the menu at the top of a Self-Roster.co.uk documentation page on the web site (Welcome, Help, Management, Tutorial, Mobile Access or Support). You might need to scroll to the top of the page to see the menu.
Action: Select the About Adobe pdf item from the menu.
Result 10b: A page of help pops up in a new browser window. This page of help explains briefly how to use Adobe pdf to view, search and print the User Guide, Management Guide and Tutorial, and to print rotas you have downloaded as pdf files by following the Report menu item in a rota page. Take a look at the help page to make sure you know what sort of help it contains.
Objective: Know what help is available for items in the Your rotas menu.
Action: If you are not already logged in, log in. Otherwise, if it is not already selected, select Your users & rotas in the top menu.
Action: Select the Your users & rotas item from the top menu.
Action: In the Your rotas menu on the left, select Help. It is the first item.
Result 10c: A page of help pops up in a new browser window. This page of help provides an introductory description for each item in the Your rotas left menu. Take a look at it, to make sure you know what sort of help it contains.
Objective: Know what help is available for working within a rota:
Action: In the Your rotas menu on the left, select Basic rota or any specific rota.
Action: At the top of the rota you selected (not on the left menu) select the Help menu item.
Result 10d: A page of help pops up. Observe that it describes the menu items that are at the top of the rota. Take a look at it, to make sure you know what sort of help it contains. Open it any time you are working with a rota and it will open at the appropriate place.
You use the Report entry in the menu at the top of the rota page to obtain a report of a rota for print, study or archive. It pops up a window with a page offering you a range of reporting options. Help is available for that page.
Action: In the Your rotas menu on the left, select Basic rota or any specific rota.
Action: At the top of the rota you chose, select the Report menu item.
Action: At the top of the Report page that pops up, not at the top of the Rota page, select the Help menu item.
Result 10e: A page of help pops up. Observe that it describes the functions available in the Report page. Take a look at it, to make sure you know what sort of help it contains. Open it any time you are obtaining a report and it will open at the appropriate place.
You use Make credentials in the Your users menu at the left to obtain a pdf file showing one or more pages of entry cards or certificates. Selecting the menu item pops up a window with a page offering you a range of options. Help is available for that page.
Action: In the Your users menu on the left, select Make credentials.
Action: At the top of the Make credentials page that pops up, select the Help menu item.
Result 10f: A page of help pops up. You can see it describe the functions available in the Make credentials page. Take a look, to make sure you know what sort of help it contains. Open it any time you are printing Self-Roster.co.uk entry cards or certificates and it will open at the appropriate place.

Action: In the Your users menu on the left, select the Your user group item.
Action: At the top of your user group (not on the left menu) select the Help menu item.
Result 10h: A page of help pops up. Observe that it describes the menu items that are within your user group. Take a look at it, to make sure you know what sort of help it contains. Open it any time you are working within your user group and it will open at the appropriate place, i.e. it is context sensitive.
If your web browser does not accept cookies or scripts from Self-Roster.co.uk when you try to use it, you are immediately offered help to get them working. If your browser does accept cookies, you are not prompted to look at help about cookies on line. Similarly, if your browser follows scripts successfully, you will not be prompted about that. If you want to know how to enable cookies for this site (for instance, to help others), you can either log out and use the Help link in the tablet at the top right of the screen or you can read the Browser setup help in the printed user guide. To print the user guide:
Action: Find the menu at the top of a Self-Roster.co.uk documentation page. You might need to scroll the lower right part of the window to see the menu.
Action: Select the User Guide in pdf item from the menu.
